 Mixed picture on Welsh house market

House price inflation continued to slow in Wales during the first quarter and now stands at only 1.0% year-on-year. Welsh house price growth has now been below the UK average for ten consecutive quarters.

 Official stats show house price growth

The mix-adjusted average house price in the UK in January 2008 stood at £221,758, up from £218,007 in December 2007 according to official Government figures.

The UK house price inflation rate fell from 9.7 per cent in November 2007 to 9.1 per cent in December 2007 according to the latest Government figures.

 Welsh house price growth at 3.9%

House prices in Wales rose by 0.9% in Q4 2007 compared to the UK average fall of -0.8%, taking house price growth in Wales to 3.9%, below the UK average of 5.2%.
