Scarce new sellers bumped up asking prices by 3.2%, an average increase of £7,137 with London setting a new record of £427,987.

So far in 2010, sellers are more confident and buyers more interested, Rightmove has commented in the first house price report of the new year.

The onset of the Autumn moving season sees new sellers asking an average of 0.6% more for their properties, property group Rightmove has said.

Average asking prices fell by 2.2% (£5,102) during August as summer sellers price more realistically according to the latest data from Rightmove.
