Home information packs (HIPs) are deterring homeowners from putting their property up for sale, stunting market recovery, estate agents believe.

From 6th April this year, new rules on selling your home come into force meaning that sellers must have a home information pack (HIP) in place – not just ordered – before it can be put on the market.

The Association of Home Information Pack Providers (AHIPP) today called for the Government to re-introduce a ‘drop dead’ date of 1st April 2009 for Home Information Packs (HIPs) when they address the transitional arrangements which expire at the end of the year.

The National Association of Estate Agents (NAEA), the residential sales arm of the National Federation of Property Professionals (NFOPP), is calling on the government to help the property market by finally taking action on Home Information Packs (HIPs).
