Gross mortgage lending by building societies was £1,976 million in June 2009, compared to £3,254 million in June 2008.

 Energy performance certificates for rental properties are being ignored

The latest figures from Land Registry report a modest improvement in the monthly change in house prices in England and Wales, with the first month on month rise since January 2008.
