Tesco moves onto the property market

Tesco, the UK’s biggest supermarket chain, has decided to make a move onto the property market.

The news was broken by The Negotiator magazine, the estate agents’ industry publication.

It is understood that house sellers will be able to list their homes on a Tesco website for a one-off fee of about £200. People using the property sales service will get a Tesco-branded “for sale” sign to put up outside their home.

Sellers also get an online valuation calculator, with viewings and offers arranged through the website, and a buyer vetting service conducted by a data company.

The move follows a decision made by Asda last year to provide touch-screen terminals in stores displaying details of properties for sale.
