New research from Halifax shows that the value of the UK’s private housing stock has trebled over the past ten years from £1.1 trillion in 1995 to £3.4 trillion in 2005.

New research from RICS - the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors show that house prices continued their rise during January.
An extra 9pc of chartered surveyor estate agents confirmed a rise in prices than a fall for the three months to January, compared to 8pc in December.
