Irish house prices up 5.4pc
Irish house price growth has risen at more than twice the rate in the five months to November at 5.4pc.
The latest permanent tsb/ESRI House price index reports that the price increase is up compared to the first half of 2005, when price growth was at 2.6pc.
Mortgage lending second highest
Gross mortgage lending rose by 5pc to an estimated £28.5 billion in November according to the Council of Mortgage Lenders.
This was the second highest monthly lending figure on record, 1pc lower than the £28.9 billion of lending in July 2004, and 30pc more than the £21.7 billion of lending last November.
House prices set to grow
House prices have risen for the first time in over a year during the three months to November reports the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.

Ulster Bank predicts one more rate cut
Ulster Bank has reported in it’s “2006 Focus Report”, of a 0.25pc cut in UK interest rates.

Has time run out for the humble chimney?
Times are looking tough for Santa Claus, RICS – The Royal Insitute of Chartered Surveyors has called time on chimneys.
According to RICS, chimneys are an endangered species, with new homes not featuring one and many older homes not maintaining or restoring their existing ones.
4pc growth expected for 2006
The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors has said that it expects a rise in UK house prices of 4pc in 2006 and a further 4pc in 2007.
The predictions should be considered as RICS had accurately predicted an expected upturn of 3pc for 2005.
